ABOUT ME, THE INSTRUCTOR:
My name is Alison Newth...I have been working as an elementary school teacher in FSJ for 10+ years but have been painting for much longer than that. I am an active participant in the FSJ art community and am a member of Flying Colours Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists and the Peace River Chapter of the FCA. A LITTLE OVERVIEW:
In the fall of 2017, I decided it was time to start teaching art. I am currently offering classes for kids, teens and adults. Every class is a little different--there will be drawing, painting and good old fashion crafting. Students will learn techniques and skills, discover a variety of materials and have fun doing it. I will be posting classes on here, in my newsletter as well as on facebook.
WHAT WILL STUDENTS GAIN FROM THE CLASSES?
My goal is to teach techniques/skills while encouraging creativity. I want the art classes to be a positive experience, with the hope that the student will be excited to continue. I pursued art because I loved it...the techniques and skills were built naturally over time through enjoyable practice. This is what I am hoping for my students.
WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD?
Classes are held in my home, in NE FSJ. Address provided upon receipt of payment. There is space for 8 students. For those with allergies, it is important that you know that we are a pet-friendly home. We have a cat as well as 2 dogs (the dogs will be kept downstairs during classes). The dogs will bark when people come to the door but will quiet down very quickly.
WILL YOU TEACH SMALLER GROUPS, OR ONE-ON-ONE?
I can be available to teach in a variety of ways: small groups, one-on-one, larger groups/staff community-building, etc. Click here for information regarding private and semi-private art classes.
